After a year of the pandemic and staying home, the travel bug is weighing heavy on us. While we can't wait to get back out and experience the world, at lease we can reflect on trips from the past.
In 2019, Jim and I checked off an item on our bucket list by taking a trip aboard the Belmond Venice Simplon - Orient Express. We had no idea at the time that this would be our last European vacation for awhile, but what a way to go! Over the course of a week, we spent four days and two nights on this historic train, living out our vintage fantasies in all its finery and all our finest wears.
We started this historic journey in Venice, Italy where after arriving by boat we boarded the train at Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia. The beauty of the iconic art deco train cars, the elegance of cabins, and the most amazing staff taking care of you throughout your journey made this an experience like nothing else.
Riding aboard the Orient Express, one is encouraged to breakout the best in fashion. This is an elegant affair where smart attire can be seen during the day in one of the three restaurant cars for lunch and evening gowns and black tie are expected in the bar car for drinks pre and post dinner. For vintage clothing enthusiasts it is a dream come true.

The Belmond Venice Simplon - Orient Express has several journeys to embark on. Our excursion took us from Venice to Prague where we enjoyed a few days exploring the city. From Prague's Smichov train station we headed on the last leg of our journey departing this historic train in Calais, France before making our way across the English Channel and boarding the Belmond British Pullman in Folkestone, England. Our grand adventure ended in Victoria station London, leaving us with memories to last a lifetime and a dream of a future journey to another destination aboard one of Belmond's other historic train lines.
