Dior Casual

Fashion

Over the past couple of seasons, Dior's collections have shown a more casual vibe, definitely leaning in to the idea of lounging at home versus regular social outings.  They have shown denim, knits, and woven fabrics in loose shapes and have expanded their signature J'adiore tees in new prints. These new Dior pieces can be worn at home for now and then out on the town in the future just by mixing them with a leather jacket, a maxi skirt, or a classic Bar jacket changing their look completely!

It's important to me that the pieces I invest in can be worn time and time again so I can get the most "cost per wear" out of my investments and while I may buy trends in bags and shoes, I don't tend to be as "trendy" in the clothing options I purchase. I really find that if I see something I like that doesn't match my unique style, I wait on it.  If I am still thinking about it...dreaming about it in some cases...months after I've first seen it, it's worth another look and thought about how it might fit within my wardrobe.  I've even had the luck that some of the pieces I've gone back for have been on sale (yes, even the classic design houses have secret sales!) which must mean it was truly meant to be! Ha!

In the larger picture posted here, I snapped this picture when we were out for a walk around downtown this past winter.  While known for the heat, Palm Springs does have cooler afternoons and evenings even when the sun is shining. When the wind kicks up through March, it is the perfect time for a light cozy sweater.  The striped Dior Marinière sweater I'm wearing here is a cotton and cashmere blend with shiny CD buttons on the shoulder and is currently still available on their website. I've paired it with a pair of cropped Dior flared leg jeans that I've had for a few years now and a tie-dye saddle bag from the Pre-Fall 2020 collection.  It felt to me like updated sailor chic! Below are a few other pieces I've picked up in the last year including my most recent purchase, the Dior Belted Palto Jacket in blue cotton denim. It's from their current Spring Summer collection and can also be found on their website.

Let's be honest....a classic, vintage look is my favorite way to dress, but this look takes a bit more time and effort to get that finished look between the undergarments, the make-up, and not-to-be-forgotten hair! In this last year while we stayed at home, I've found myself less and less inclined to get dolled-up and have ended up wearing much more casual attire.  To be clear, while I might be wearing my workout clothes at home for most of the day...I'm not wearing them on outings like grabbing coffee outside or going for a stroll downtown.  I haven't gone down that path yet!  As I've dressed more casually, I found that I still lean toward classic and timeless silhouettes and with my love of historic designer houses, like Dior, I found pieces to add into my collection for years of wear to come.
