a "New Look" item from the 1940's that would fit my measurements and height is not very likely as most pieces were custom tailored to fit each client.  With all this in mind, I went straight to the source, Dior! Year over year, Dior designers have brought back inspiration from Christian Dior's earlier collection.  Maria Grazia Chiuri is no exception. In the Fall Winter collection of 2019, Signora Chiuri created a line inspired by the Teddy Girls of the 1950s.  The suit and accessories pictured here come from this collection. While Dior did not style these two pieces as a suit, by putting them together I created the look I was going for and also allowed optionality to wear each piece separately.  This look is complete Dior and consists of a Bar Jacket (a Dior standard), a full circle skirt, Dior "CD" lock leather belt, and Dior kitten heels. These are some of my favorite pieces that I have worn time and time again.  The quality of the garments, the tailored fitting, and the timeless style make this ensemble one of the highlights of my designer collection.

Christian Dior's first collection launched in 1947 where he introduced the "New Look" featuring rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and a full skirt, bringing back opulence in quantities of fabric since the war and a return of femininity.  This historic collection left a lasting mark on the fashion world and made Christian Dior, and the Dior label, the icon that it is today.

The "New Look" has to be my all time favorite silhouettes and one that I gravitate toward time and time again.  As a woman with curves and an hourglass shape, the fit and flare look is a godsend to me!

While most of what Jim and I planned out to wear aboard the Belmond Venice Simplon - Orient Express was strictly vintage, I knew a classic Dior suit would complete my wardrobe for our adventure.  Now, finding a true vintage Dior "New Look" was completely out of the question. Many pieces are only found at museums and within Dior's own archives. Not to mention
